Director, Joint & Army Programs
Jim Buford is the Director for Army and Joint Programs at HTS. He provides subject matter expertise to Army and MDA hardware-in-the-loop (HWIL) weapons simulations and test programs, projects, and labs for missiles, interceptors, ground radars, and battle managers. Jim has 30+ years of government HWIL expertise with AvMC, MDA, RTC, and SMDC and has published/authored 20+ papers covering such topics as hypersonic, ballistic, and tactical HWIL weapon system simulation and testing, electro-optical infrared-visible scene projection/generation, flight motion simulators, space chambers, and ladar Advanced Measurement Optical Range. He is the recipient of Best Paper Award from the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA). Jim has served 10+ years as conference chair and committee member of the international HWIL Conference at SPIE Aerosense and Tri-service Chair and Army-lead for the Seeker/Sensor Test Technology (SSTT) working group. He holds a BS in Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering from the University of South Alabama and graduate studies at the Southeastern Institute of Technology (6DOF simulations) and the University of Alabama in Huntsville (optics and controls).
