Vice President, Joint & Army Programs

Jim Buford is the Vice President for Army and Joint Programs at HTS. He provides subject matter expertise to Army, Navy, Air Force, and MDA all-digital and hardware-in-the-loop (HWIL) weapons simulations and test programs, projects, and labs for missiles, interceptors, ground radars,  battle managers, and threats. Jim has 30+ years of government HWIL expertise with AvMC, MDA, RTC, and SMDC and has published/authored 20+ papers and numerous briefings on such topics as hypersonic, ballistic, cruise, and tactical HWIL weapon system simulation and testing. Other areas of expertise include radio frequency electro-optical infrared (EOIR)/RF scene projection/generation, flight motion simulators, space vacuum chambers, generation, real-time frameworks, various real-time interfaces, data analysis, verification, and validation. Jim is the recipient of Best Paper Award from the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA). He has served 15+ years as conference chair and committee member of the international HWIL Conference at SPIE Aerosense and Tri-service Chair and Army-lead for the Seeker/Sensor Test Technology (SSTT) working group. He holds a BS in Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering from the University of South Alabama and did graduate studies at the Southeastern Institute of Technology (6DOF simulations) and the University of Alabama in Huntsville (optics and controls).
